After nineteen years of serving as a law enforcement officer, I’ve seen firsthand how the criminal justice system impacts lives—both positively and negatively. Anticipated Challenges
Balancing a full-time career, personal responsibilities, and higher education is not without its challenges. Time management and maintaining focus amid long shifts and coursework are real hurdles. However, I’ve learned over the years that perseverance, discipline, and purpose-driven motivation can overcome almost any obstacle.
Another challenge I anticipate is adapting to the academic side of criminal justice after years in the field. Law enforcement work is often fast-paced and action-oriented, while academia requires deep reflection, writing, and critical analysis. I see this not as a barrier, but as a growth opportunity.
